Well I don't think it's been that wild since then - it's been almost 3 weeks of non-stop sunshine, except yesterday - a bit of drizzle and today some sea fog!!

When I hear it's going to be a rough sea, I do what I can to get down here! Can't always manage it, especially from Spain!

Maybe this performance was from the 70s but it had to have been written by her before 1967 as that is when Janis Joplin gave her epic performance of it at the Monterey Pop Festival.

Big Mama Thornton owes her fame mainly to two songs: "Hound Dog" and "Ball and Chain"... one covered by Elvis Presley and the other by Janis Joplin. Without them, she would certainly have remained unknown!

Indeed! And I'm pleased she got at least some of the recognition she deserved. I hope she got royalties too but somehow I doubt it!
