Granite and not much else.

Granite and not much else.
La Sierra de La Cabrera. Fantastic walking / scrambling country. Shot taken on a bitterly cold January day (I know it looks like high summer!)

Thank you Rosa!
The coldest I've been anywahere has been nights in Central Spain in deepest winter (and I used to go ice-climbing in Scotland!). Madrid is bang in the middle of the country (so next to no moderating maritime influences), is the highest capital city in Europe (+/- 2,500 feet). is on a dusty and windswept plateau with mountains close by (within sight anyway). All this leads to very cold winters in the main. There is an old saying in Madrid, 'Nueve meses de inverno, tres meses de inferno!' (Nine months of winter, three months of hell!) ... and that just about sums it up!

Thank you, Jenny!
Really the most crystal-clear sky is in winter as the summer heat haze and the dusty nature of the plateau often dulls the views then.

Andy, ahí estabas en tu salsa. Muchísimo juego te ha dado la sierra de la Cabrera. Quizá la estes añorando. Bueno en la foto has capturado unas rocas excepcionales. Buen jueves
