Granite and not much else.

Granite and not much else.
La Sierra de La Cabrera. Fantastic walking / scrambling country. Shot taken on a bitterly cold January day (I know it looks like high summer!)

Hi Andy
I like this picture very much!
It is a very different and exciting structure in the rocks. Hard to believe it is natural.
Fantastic colours too, hard to believe it is cold.. Does Spain ever get cold???
Best Wishes, and stay safe!!

These rocks look amazing - as if they've been smoothed off. Yes the weather does look gorgeous, but you say it was freezing cold. It sounds like it was like the other day here - beautiful sun and temperatures of -1C.

Thank you Rosa!
The coldest I've been anywahere has been nights in Central Spain in deepest winter (and I used to go ice-climbing in Scotland!). Madrid is bang in the middle of the country (so next to no moderating maritime influences), is the highest capital city in Europe (+/- 2,500 feet). is on a dusty and windswept plateau with mountains close by (within sight anyway). All this leads to very cold winters in the main. There is an old saying in Madrid, 'Nueve meses de inverno, tres meses de inferno!' (Nine months of winter, three months of hell!) ... and that just about sums it up!
