Torres Kio and the hypodermic needle, Plaza de Castilla, Madrid

Another missed bus (by seconds and a two hour wait), so another photo opportunity. The golden needle like structure was added to this site just before I came to live and work here. It doesn't seem to be liked much; hence the nickname you see in my title! (La Aguja hipodérmica in Spanish).
I think the heat of the day comes through in this shot!

Andy Rodker club has replied to Herb Riddle clube si, il calore è "palpabile" ;-)
I like the image though.............it really sums up the current heat wave with the haze and soft focus. Nicely done sir.
Andy Rodker club has replied to Keith Burton clubI don't recall it being lit up at night - and now with energy cuts being imposed, I don't suppose the Torres Kio will be lit up either, at least in the short term.

Many thanks to you all!
I had three options;
1) to stay in the metro concourse where it was stuffy and with too many idiots not wearing masks (still obligatory here on public transport but no one enforces it) and I can't take any risk,
2) have a coffee in a café but obviously one has to remove ones mask to drink! Again I can't take the risk. I did actually have a coffee on an outside terrace which was relatively empty (i found out why - very expensive coffee!) but as is usual, the cigarette smoke was overpowering, so not ideal and
3) go for a walk keeping to the shady parts of the pavements!
I chose 2 and 3!
The buildings seem perfectly normal to be in and to work in. I know because I taught Business English to the CEO of the Bank whose head office is the tower on the left and his office was on the top floor.
(By the way, photographs are not permitted from the building but my student happily overrode this and allowed me to take photos of the mountains from his office which I posted on Pano and later ipernity. I'll try and find one to post here!!) www.ipernity.com/doc/2247598/45653656
