One of the two Torres Kio, Madrid (Torre Kio Este).
Revolutionary for the early 1990s, these leaning towers were a noted landmark and perhaps still are, even if the nearby Cuatro Torres now steal their limelight.
The main bus terminal for buses to the north lies underground here on many levels. I just missed my bus by seconds so had two hours to wait for the next one (a much reduced summer 'service'!). With time to kill I went for a walk and took this shot on a whim.

Andy Rodker club has replied to Gudrun clubI taught for many years on the top floor of the sister building opposite (teaching Business English to the senior bods at Bankia). The views over the Guadarrama Mountains were spectacular from there. The place did not not engender any feeling of insecurity!

Thank you all! It is usually shown with it's twin, leaning across from the other side of the Plaza de Castilla, but I thought just to show one for a change!

Andy Rodker club has replied to Boarischa Krautmo clubA very nice picture, which I like very much!
Wonderful and interesting composition
Reminds me of the 'Walkie Talkie' in London, which focussed sunlight on all the cars beneath!!
Best Wishes, HWW, a nice week, and stay cool!!

Andy Rodker club has replied to Peter_Private_Box clubThanks for your comments on my leaning tower, Peter!
Best wishes,
Andy.
Andy Rodker club has replied to Jenny McIntyre clubThis isn't so modern - 1980s design but it is impressive!
I had a day of hospital appointments (tests, that sort of thing) and I can get into Madrid on my own now.
Actually I have never seen the Shard! I saw the Gherkin when it was built and that was the last time I set foot in the City so it nust have been somewhere in the late 90s I would guess.
Hope you've been OK in the heatwave!
Best wishes,
Andy
vero,
Many thanks to you both!
Ulrich,
