Andy Rodker club has replied to JeanIt might surprise you to know that Mondalindo, the mountain brooding on the right, is nearly 2,000 metres high (over 6,000 feet). It doesn't seem any higher than Ben Nevis in my photo because the plain below is already at 2,000 feet!
The highest point in this mountain range (Sierra de Guadarrama, or Sierra del Norte or Sierra de Madrid) is Peñalara, about 20 miles west of this shot's location, and is 2,428 metres high (just under 8,000 feet). I was hoing to climb it with a walking group one day but the forecast was totally against us and they returned on a day when I couldn't join them. I still haven't been up it. One day ... maybe!
