Little local parish church spotted on a walk.
I hadn't noticed it before. It has a pleasing and colourful frontage.
There was a sign on the door saying 'No more than 64 worshippers'. As this was the first Sunday when the churches were allowed to open, I had a peek inside. Let's just say that, while there was a full service going on, 64 was wildly optimistic (I counted 3 worshippers)!
But at least they were widely spread around the church, wearing masks, and not all bunched together!
Well done them!!

Maybe the fear of going out, of crowds, of ... everything!
Or maybe this is back at the usual numbers because, as I mentioned, Spain is just about one of the most secular countries in the world. I think this is because the official church is STILL associated with the repressive tyranny of the Franco era. This is polemic even today. I have to be very careful as I have some students who feel Franco saved Spain from communism ... and here they are right. A difficult period of history to be sure!
Yes, I go for long walks but avoid crowds, I won't have a beer or coffee at a terrace cafe, and certainly not a meal in a restaurant and my heart bleeds for these establishments.
(Well I could!)
