San Pedro El Viejo, Madrid
A very old corner of Madrid. San Pedro El Viejo is the church on the left and one of the very oldest in Madrid. In fact, if we discount all those that burnt down and were rebuilt, then it most definitely is the oldest!
My first week's immersion course students live a stone's throw from here but in different streets. Even though they work in the same company and knew each other vaguely (before their immersion course with me), they didn't know that they lived so close to each other!
I was lucky with with my students .One week in an immersion course environment needs good class dynamics and good EI skills. It worked very well with the first grouop ... now for group 2!

I'm back home. 2nd class cancelled after we arrived. The 'leader' of the next bunch, a pompous, self -satisfied little Napolean of a man declared within 5 minutes of arriving that it wasn't what he expected at all. He phoned his company and they agreed with his request to cancel the course and they all went off! All we could do (me and a second teacher this time as they were going to be 4 students) was go home!
So I had cancelled my holiday for this and I doubt if I will get paid for the second week. And the necessity of earning a penny in the otherwise barren time of August was the sole reason why I didn't have a holiday. Having board and keep paid for a second week would have been very handy too! So I'm not a happy bunny.
I go to the academy tomorrow to see what can be salvaged. I know they are devastated too as this was a big contract for them.
Roland,
June,
Very many thanks!
