Guadarrama's iconic elm in the Plaza Mayor in front of the town hall. I invite all Europeans of a certain age to wallow in this nostalgic image from their childhood!

This brings back happy childhood memories of majestic elms in England. Sadly this is the only surviving mature elm in the whole of Madrid province and it is expected to succumb to Dutch Elm Disease soon. But at the moment it lives and provides much joy.

Andy Rodker club has replied to Ulrich John clubAndy Rodker club has replied to Keith Burton clubSo far it's stayed remarkably free of Dutch Elm Disease. Long may it stay that way ... but it's the only one left.
Andy Rodker club has replied to Jenny McIntyre clubSorry, the info board was in direct sun and was too shiny to make out. It had a lot about Dutch Elm Disease and other stuff but I couldn't see its age.
