Porthgwarra. Tunnel for boats - and people!

The tunnel links the small beach at this tiny fishing hamlet, with a more protected cove. The small boats could be hauled through the tunnel up to the latter if the seas threatened to be too rough for the beach. That frayed old blue rope is handy if the granite is wet underfoot!

Andy Rodker club has replied to Nick Weall clubI didn't know Poldark was shot here, but then I've never watched a single episode; neither of the 70s series nor of the more recent ones (much to Rosa's never-ending amazement)!
I did read one of the books in the early 70s when it was the only reading material in my bedroom at my aunt's farm in Zennor and I found it particularly boring so I was never going to be enthusuatic about the TV series!
Is it a natural tunnel, or man-made? Perhaps a bit of both!
