The authorities are very sensitive to this and carry out ultra-sound checks near the cliff edges and fence off any newly-appeared cracked areas, etc.

The sea and the weather have cleaned the cliff fall up nicely

True, although there is still evidence in the lighter blue of the sea-water. So still 'work in progress'. Of course, by the time of my next visit in 2014 (2 years later), there was no more water discolouration to be seen.

The beauty of Cornwall ********************************

I thought I would visit Cornwall this summer and stay in St Ives. This year will not be possible. Next year perhaps. Impressive coast Andy.

I will have to think of next year instead, like you.
If you want to stay in St Ives, you need to book a year in advance! And if you want a car there (necessary) then you won't be able to stay in the pretty but crowded town centre.
I suggest booking a place in the country (farm bed and breakfasts, that sort of thing!).

That video is awesome! How lucky to be there and see that................and even luckier to be standing on the bit that didn't fall into the sea :-))

The geology lecturer from Exeter University had been monitoring the 'shimmering' cliffs for some time and the National Trust, who own this land, had already diverted the path inland when small cracks started appearing in the cliff top some way from the edge itself.
He had a hunch that it might 'go' on such and such a day so gathered some geology students and went down to see if he would be lucky enough to record it. He was!
Incredibly irritating hysterical screaming hardly advances the cause of feminism. (I speak from the viewpoint of a committed feminist and it really annoyed me!).
