Maybe you are right Herb but I've never been to Mexico. I do know, as I suspect you do too, that many Westerns, including the famous Clint Eastwood / Sergio Leone 'For a Fistful of dollars', 'For a Few Dollars More' and 'The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly' - the so-called spaghetti westerns - were all filmed in the South of Spain.
Also some early Spanish b/w 'western' films were shot in the granite country to the north of Madrid where you see most of my Spanish granite scenery shots are from (but I don't think this town was used - perhaps it should have been!).
