Penandrea mine chimney, Redruth, Cornwall.
A tin mine slap bang in the middle of town! Now its chimney is a pleasing feature and landmark but this would have been Hell on Earth in about 1840!
A mine in operation for copper and tin from the early 18th century and possibly much earlier until it was shut down in 1891.

Andy Rodker club has replied to Pam J clubPam J club has replied to Andy Rodker clubAndy Rodker club has replied to Pam J clubI am ever conscious of the differences between British English and American English in the classes I give. I have some students that only want American spellings, grammar (there are a few differences - on/at the weekend, etc.) and pronunciation and some who prefer the British versions. Most, thankfully, aren't bothered!

Andy Rodker club has replied to John FitzGerald club(N.B. -- I bought a Photoshop program just so I could watermark my uploads, because of the looting of photos at the demise of Panoramio: it was just irritating to me. But I cannot get the darn program to work; certainly wish I could, so that I can start uploading on IP again.)
