Sierra de La Pedriza

Sierra de La Pedriza
I got lost and followed this path only to find myself in a field with a bull. The next field also had a bull ... and the next. I couldn't escape them so, as nonchalantly as I could, I retraced my steps, adding over an hour to my journey!. But then it is Spain, after all!

Martine, Gudrun, , and 33 other people have particularly liked this photo

Nice shot here Andy, very rugged. Sounds like a wise move to me:)

All the best, Doug

Many thanks, Doug! La Pedriza is spectacular. I hope to go again shortly. I have been in the very rugged parts a few years ago but before I had any means of taking a photo, not even a cameraphone! This walk was just a short walk whilst recovering from an illness. Better now and need to get out among the hills again soon!
Best wishes, Andy

Beautiful area, but the bulls sound ominous. Glad you were able to retreat safely.

Thank you Ron, I have heard that you are more at risk of injury or worse if you cross a field of cows than if you cross one with a bull. All I know is that I have crossed 100s of fields of cows and come away with nothing worse than a squidgedly bad foot placement! I won't risk it with a bull!

The bull looks more dangerous and that's enough in my opinion.

Cornwall sheeps are much more harmless than spanish bulls I guess...so you really are a lucky one Andy ;)
Andy Rodker club has replied to Tanja - Loughcrew club
There are VERY FEW SHEEP in Cornwall, but many cows and bulls, Tanja!
It is a myth. Sheep mainly appear in German TV / film adaptations of Rosamund Pilcher books!!!
So I am used to bulls in Cornwall!!! The thing is to back away slowly, as Pam J rightly says above!!!
Best wishes, Andy

OHhhhh..Rosamunde is very famous in germany and perhaps I mixed it up with ireland Andy!
Andy Rodker club has replied to Tanja - Loughcrew club
Just seen, Tanja!
I know Rosamund (Rosamunde for her German market!).
She is (was) a good friend of my great aunt's in Cornwall. Her son owns a farm near my cousin's farm. I used to work in a pub where they all used to gather. The joke about the sheep is that they are brought in from up country, just ahead of the Pilcher coach tours from Germany, and released into the fields a few minutes ahead! Then when the German tourists were in the pub, they were taken to to the next stopping point.
Potemkin Sheep!!!
Apparently a German Pilcher coach tour just wouldn't be the same without the sheep!!!

Pas vraiment drôle à vivre cette histoire de taureaux, le calme est de mise dans ces situations !!! un tel paysage est tellement engageant que l'on ne sait pas toujours où on met les pieds (lol) bon jeudi Andy.

Beautiful picture of this typical spanish landscape!
I like the alternation in your galery of shots from England and from Spain: both of them so different and so nice!

Andy Rodker club has replied to Nouchetdu38 club
Thank you, Nouchet. Pleased you like the alternate shots. I know one or two find it a bit off-putting!

This shot gives me a thirst Andy. Must be getting old, as it is for cool water instead of a cool beer. Notwithstanding a fine shot.
Cheers, Herb

Andy Rodker club has replied to Herb Riddle club
I always carry a minimum of 4 litres of water AND a few ice packs. It does weigh me down a lot at the start which is when you usually get the most relentlessly uphill sections but - by golly - are you grateful later in the day as you slake your thirst in 105F and reduce the weight!!!!
Thank you, Herb and best wishes, Andy

Certainly rugged looking country Andy .. hope you were not carring a Red cape while out walking or take a shape that looked like a MAT or A DOR seeing as you were in Spain :))

Best wishes ... Steve

Ha Ha Steve!
Your knowledge of things Spanish seems to be pretty good!!
Except that;
Apparently bulls are colour blind!!!
And 'matador' is a term unknown in Spain - it is 'torero'!!!
:o)
Mind you, I knew no more than you when I first came out here and then had a steep learning curve!
Many thanks!!
