Un cetáceo, ballena roncual común, de 18 metros y 20 toneladas, arrastrada por las olas apareció malherida junto a la orilla de la playa de Atxabiribil, en Sopela, en la mañana del 3 de febrero del 2018. Tenía muchas heridas y sangraba por ellas más por la del vientre; falleció a la tarde del mismo día.
