Seasonal Un-Happy Fence Friday

Seasonal Un-Happy Fence Friday
U.S. virologist Robert Ray Redfield Jr., born July 10, 1951, is the current Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and since March 2018 the current Administrator of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry. He is also head of the Infectious Disease Clinic at the University of Maryland in the United States of America and presents 17 reflections on the current covid-19 pandemic.
Robert Ray Redfield Jr.'s 17 reflections on covid-19
1. "We may have to live with covid-19 for several years. Let's not deny it or panic. Let's not make our lives useless. Let's learn to live with this fact."
2. "We cannot destroy the new coronavirus, which penetrates the cell walls, only with the usual rules of hygiene, like constantly washing our hands. The only thing we're gonna do is go to the bathroom more often."
3. "Nevertheless, washing your hands and maintaining a physical distance of two meters is the best method of protection."
4. "If you don't have a covid-19 patient in the house, there's no need to disinfect the surfaces of the home constantly."
5. "Packages, gas canisters, shopping carts and ATMs do not transmit the virus. Wash your hands and live your life as you always have."
6. "Covid-19 is not a foodborne infection. It's associated with drops of infection, just like the flu. There is no proven risk of the disease being transmitted in food."
Loss of smell, change of clothes and bathing on the way home...
7. "You can lose your sense of smell with many allergies and viral infections. Loss of smell is a common symptom in many complications, not just covid-19."
8. "Once you're home, you don't have to change and take a bath. Purity is a virtue. Not paranoia."
9. "The coronavirus is not in the air. It's a droplet-borne respiratory infection that only happens with close contact."
10. "The air is clean. We can walk through the gardens, naturally maintaining the physical protective distance."
11. "Normal soap is enough to eliminate the virus that causes covid-19. Antibacterial soap solves nothing. Corona is a virus, not a bacteria."
12. "You don't have to worry about food deliveries at home, or even take-away. But if you feel more confident, you can heat the food in the microwave."
Likelihood of the virus being taken home in the soles of shoes
13. "The odds of getting the coronavirus home in your shoes are the same as being hit by the same beam twice in one day. I've been working against viruses for 20 years and the infections don't spread like this."
14. "No one is protected from the virus by taking vinegar, juice, ginger. They may favor immunity, but never be a cure."
15. "Wearing a mask for long periods interferes with your breathing and oxygen levels. Wear it only when social detachment is impossible, especially in confined spaces."
16. "Wearing gloves is also a bad idea. The virus can build up in the glove and be easily transmitted if you touch the face. What to do? What no virologist will ever get tired of advising: wash your hands regularly."
Stay home or take walks, which is better for immunity...
17. "Immunity is greatly weakened by remaining in sterile environments. Even if we eat food that increases immunity. Leave home regularly. Go to parks, the beach, the countryside. Immunity is increased by exposure to pathogens, not by staying at home and eating fried, spicy, sugary or carbonated foods."

Rules 3, 5, 8, 11 and 17 are the most relevant. We go out for walks every day, and try to maintain social distancing, and we don't intend to wear masks.
HFF and Have a nice weekend, Isabel, and keep showing us the gorgeous flowers of Portugal.
