Color Coordinated

Another photo from the display garden at Roozengaarde's in the Skagit Valley during the annual tulip festival. The photo shows why the place receives over a million visitors every year.

Spring Morning

Another photo from Roozengaarde's display gardens in the Skagit Valley. I was there as soon as they opened and managed to get some photos like this but the place was soon jammed with people and eventually I gave up and went elsewhere.

Roozengaarde's

This was taken in the display gardens at Roozengaarde's. Founded by the Roozen family and the Washington Bulb Company, the business is the largest of its kind in the world, with over a thousand acres of fields and 16 acres of greenhouses. The display gardens are planted with over 300,000 bulbs every year and are one of the main attractions of the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, held annually during the month of April.

Yellow Tulips

To call this "Yellow Tulips" is probably a bit of an understatement. I visited the fields and displays of the bulb growers in the Skagit Valley mid-April and the most of the fields were already finished. These few were not and I spent most of the day there and in the display gardens doing photography.

Tulips

Washington's Skagit Valley is known for its tulip and daffodil fields and hosts a tulip festival every year during the month of April. The tulips are very very early this year due to a mild winter and an early spring and this photo was taken the middle of March when a number of the fields were already in bloom. The photo was taken late in the afternoon and look east toward the foothills of the Cascades.

Skagit Valley Tulips and Daffodils

This was taken in the Skagit Valley of western Washington among the fields of the bulb growers there. At the time the photo was taken the tulips were just starting to bloom and the daffodils were at their peak. We'll be going again before long to see the tulips and the gardens of the main bulb growers.

Skagit Valley Tulips

Spring is very early here. We would not ordinarily see the Skagit Valley tulips in bloom until April, but they are already blooming in some of the fields and the daffodils are all in bloom. My wife and I were out Monday, March 16th to photograph the early wildflowers as well as the tulips. This was taken late in the afternoon.

Almost Finished

Another of my wife's photos from the Skagit Valley tulip festival. This was taken in the fields, many of which are open to visitors in addition to the display gardens. The tulips are, of course, finished for another year and I am finished with photos from the festival and the fields. I may post one more this evening, but want to go on to other things next week.
