Masdevallias and Draculas

Another species that used to be classified as a Masdevallia. This species is from Ecuador and Peru and the flowers come on thin, wiry spikes three inches long and are themselves an inch in size. orchidsinbloom-ron.blogspot.com/2012/06/luzama-amaluzae.html

Diodonopsis or Masdevallia anachaeta is unbelievably tiny. The whole plant as you see it here is an inch and a half across (4cm) and less than an inch high (2.5cm). It is from Ecuador. orchidsinbloom-ron.blogspot.com/2013/03/diodonopsis-anach...

Masdevallia mendozae is another species from Ecuador belonging to the Saltarices group of Masdevallias. The flowers, like all the others in the group, are lined with glandular hairs and have a "belly" at the base of the flowers, in this case very small. This species of Masdevallia is from Colombia and Ecuador and belongs to the Saltatrices group of Masdevallias, a group I especially favor. This tiny orchid species is from Ecuador, like so many other I grow and was awarded recently by the American Orchid Society. The flowers a a bit over a half an inch long and the plant is an inch and a half tall.
