Easy Pass
Not easy at all, the pass brings hikers into Fisher Basin, to the southeast of Ross and Diablo Lakes in the North Cascades National Park. Son Edward and I did this hike in 2007. This is near the top of the pass and the trail can be seen on the left.
Pinesap (Monotropa hypopithys)
Monotropa hypopithys is a saprophyte. It has no chlorophyll and lives off the roots of other plants.
Wakerobin (Trillium ovatum)
Western Trillium or Trillium ovatum blooms in the early spring. This plant was photographed on Sumas Mountain, Whatcom County, Washington.
Doubtful Lake
Doubtful Lake lies at the foot of Sahale Peak and Sahale Arm. It is an old mining site, but it's claimed that name refers to the fact that it's doubtful anyone would want to visit it - it's quite a difficult hike and very isolated.
Ross Lake
Ross Lake from Green Point early morning.
Scotch Thistle (Onopordum acanthium)
Photographed in the backcountry along the Cascade Pass Trail, this appears to be the species Onopordum acanthium, the Scotch Thistle.
