Towell Falls

Towell Falls
We were out hiking today at a place called Goose Butte, but I have not had a chance to look at those photos, so am posting these from an earlier hike. Today we did about six miles of easy hiking along Crab Creek. We did about the same mileage several weeks ago on this hike to Towell Falls. Towell Falls is on Rock Creek on the Escure Ranch, now federal land but once a Basque sheep ranch. There is a larger and more impressive part to these falls, but we could not get to them since the water was too high on this side channel.

This must be on the eastern side of the Cascade Mountain Range. If you hadn't told me these weren't that impressive of falls, I wouldn't have known!

Your reply was not really off the mark. We live in an area of thin soil and very low fertilitty which is sometimes even referred to as desert. Summers are very hot and very dry and the last few years rainfall has been even less than usual with even greater danger of fires. The unusual thing is that there are a lot of lakes, creeks and rivers in the area, so a lot of water but not much rainfall.
