Dowagiac Woods

Dowagiac Woods
Dowagiac Woods Nature Sanctuary is in southeastern Michigan and is supposed to be one of the few places left that preserve an area which shows what Michigan was like when still untouched by settlers. We were there with our oldest daughter who lives in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and whom we later dropped off at O'Hare Airport. We were all on our different ways home when we visited there for a few hours.

Frans Schols, buonacoppi, Jean-louis Thiaudiere, Annemarie and 18 other people have particularly liked this photo

Ron, this is such an amazing presentation...I really, really enjoyed this show. First, because your main pictures shows an unmolested natural area which allows us to see what it has always been like. To sit and think about that is so cool. Next, it's just a gorgeous place and your picture really shows exactly how pretty it is.

Why don't you just take a wild guess which is my "hit it out of the ball-park" favorite inset by a mile?

Let's just say that I swooned and exclaimed out-loud and turned my monitor for Steve to see... his reaction: "Ron's showin' you up with that fern, Janet!" LOLOL, indeed! To be more plain, it's one of the nicest fern pictures I've EVER seen! Perfect angle, light, focus and composition. I keep staring and drooling gently onto my shirt. :D Really, the way it grows up and swoops down and ends in the most wonderful curled elephant's trunk...I am bamboozled. :D

Your other insets are lovely too, especially the pitcher's plant...such a beauty!! Very nice light and detail on the other pair as well. :)

Well, I hope your evening's dinner worked out nicely, fun that Neal could go along for the occasion.

Oh how cool that your son got to work with kids to introduce them to dissection, though *cringe*...that was never something I wanted anything to do with. GROSS GROSS GROSS was my opinion back then. These days I think it would be fascinating but I'd have to get into the mode...blech is my first reaction! :D

85k photos...I don't know what I'll do with them all... Hahahahaha...yeah...well, we'll get more hard drives and move on. :) Occasionally we'll dip a toe in and pull out a winner to share, but other than that, what else can be done?! :D I'm in the same boat of course. It's hilarious how many gigs upon gigs of unprocessed wonders I have in there. But...I took more pictures this morning of the lovely light beaming onto our Common Vetch, and there will be more pictures to be taken at the very latest when we head out to the coast. They are our Dragon's Treasure and we will sit upon our golden pile with glee!

Nice that you had a hummingbird feeder for your granddaughter via mom! :D

Ooooh, iris divisions!! That will be nice to pop those into the ground. You know, of all of the planted flowers, the irises are the least molested so hopefully your will be ok! :)

Had to cackle at your hopes of training the deer to mow the grass...gosh that certainly would be nice, I have some jobs for ours in that case! :D

Did you get out to see the Camas? It's such a pretty flower, whatever type! As I mentioned above, I simply had to step out and take pictures of the vetch...it was glowing just a little too much to resist any longer. We'll see if I got anything special. :)

Ok, enough for now, I hope your day is a nice one...stay cool, it's going to be a cooker, ugh! :)
