Narada Falls

Narada Falls
Narada Falls is along the Mount Rainier Highway between Longmire and Paradise. There is a viewing area for the falls, but from the viewing area one looks straight down on the top of the lower (and larger) falls. This photo was taken from the viewing area and looks down into the canyon below. To see the falls as shown below it is necessary to hike a short ways down the canyon where there is another viewpoint. Narada Falls is actually composed of two cascades, the upper, which is visible from the viewing area, drops twenty feet (6 meters) and the lower, shown here, which drops 168 feet (51 meters). The falls are on the Paradise River. They were named after the Narada Theosophical Society of Tacoma, "narada" a Hindu word meaning "pure."

I see that you were very close to the edge to take this shot. You have courage. I liked the silkiness of the water as well as the sharpness of the greenery. The diagonal feel to the shot definitely added interest. Unfortunately, the lighting was such that there was no feeling of depth. Although the flow of the water was dramatic, I liked the less creative shot of the falls in their entirety just a bit more because the landscape was more dramatic.
