Canary Spring, Yellowstone National Park

Canary Spring, Yellowstone National Park
Canary Spring is at Mammoth Terraces on the north end of Yellowstone National Park. It is one of the few areas of the terraces that is active at present. The terraces are formed by hot water seeping up through limestone and depositing the dissolved limestone as terraces. The terraces are bone white or gray when inactive, but when active are colored by algae that live in the hot water. I've posted this picture because we were in Yellowstone briefly last week, but I have not had time to look at the pictures we took. In fact, I have not even downloaded them from the camera.
