Crystal Orchid

This picture is dedicated to my good friend from Sri Lanka, JM Uvais. It is nowhere near as good as his work, but a small token, nevertheless, as a tribute to him and his photographic skill. You can see his photostream here: www.flickr.com/photos/jmustudio/.

It has been mostly rain here for the past month with little opportunity to get out and take pictures, so I finally set up indoors and did some macro work on various household and art objects. This was taken with my 90mm macro lens and a star filter hand-held over the end of the lens (the filter fits my 17-85mm lens but not my macro). The other two pictures were taken without the star filter. The item is a limited edition piece by Swarovski.
