The worst Gulags, basically death camps. I've read quite a bit about them. What hell. Anyway, an interesting photo and I find those old Soviet-era signs interesting.

Just in case anyone is interested in reading the most comprehensive history of the Gulags, I'd suggest Anne Appelbaum's GULAG. For a first-hand account of his time in a far east gulag, Varlam Shalamov's Kolyma Tales. Grim, but fascinating (I like this sort of thing)!
