A Rum wall

A Rum wall
Even on this almost deserted wild Scottish Island of Rum, land is still divided up by dry stone walls.

HWW, enjoy the day.

Colin Ashcroft, William Sutherland, Peter Castell, Mikus and 11 other people have particularly liked this photo

My title actually had a double meaning! A" rum lad" is a traditional British slang phrase used to describe a boy or man who is eccentric, quirky, or slightly mischievous (the same can be said of a girl or lady). So this is a quirky wall ;-)

I know by taste those Stone brand beers David.

When you look at the extent of these walls and everywhere too ! it must have been a huge industry at the time,. and still ongoing today of course for repairs etc. Keep well,. Herb.. and a HWW from Dj.

No complaints here Heb - I love to see dry stone walls. We took a ferry trip around the islands but didn't stop at Rum, so am pleased to see this shot. Beautifully captured and I love the title.

HWW and best wishes Carol

A wonderful wild landscape Herb, when I saw the title I thought of a 'gentleman of the road' who used to walk around the Leicester area his name was John Mastin but everyone knew him as Rum Weather because that was his favourite greeting

Yes, a saying we don't hear so often nowadays. Linked almost exclusively with Yorkshire dialect but it was said here in Lancashire too. Great that you recognised it and it brought back memories. Glad too that you liked this Rum landscape.

Cheers. Herb

Herb Riddle club has replied to Colin Ashcroft club
Thanks Colin. I have seen the name of that flat peak somewhere but I cannot find it now. Rum has quite a few characteristic small mountains that provide great hikes, scrambles and photos for the likes of me.

Cheers. Herb
