For the family album!

For the family album!
The Common seals of Horsey Gap are a thrill to see and study. This young pup looks on to me and the other observers some 30 metres away but what is it thinking? It is hard to imagine that these were once hunted to death for their furs. They must feel quite safe here as they return every year and the only thing they have to worry about are photographic royalties :)

PS. I took this with my 300mm (450mm equivalent 35mm) and it is only the centre portion of a much larger picture.

See PiP (last photo) for bigger beach view.

Enjoy full screen.

We always enjoy a visit to Horsey, to see the seals. They have other worries though. Deadly mouth rot, which is becoming prevalent in East Anglia, can cause death, and uncontrolled dogs (and over enthusiastic photographers) can be a menace too. ;-))

Thanks for this Amelia and glad that you too know this beach. What a shame about that mouth rot. I must say that I did not see any signs of any illness nor distress in these seals. I did however see some dogs getting up closer than I thought safe whilst their owners turned the other cheek. Yes, even though I was very conscious of keeping a safe distance away so as not to worry them I saw others going much closer with their phones and being a menace.

I was hoping you'd post a close up shot of the seals Herb.........and you've certainly done that, with this delightful image.

Your focus on the seal pup is spot on. Excellent work sir! ⭐️

Always nice to see that someone appreciates and likes your work Keith. (You will know that feeling all too well :) ) As said before, I took lots of photos and this one was from the next group after the groyne barrier, of which I was hidden behind almost as if I was in a hide. Glad you liked my look at the pup. Cheers for the star.

Thanks Gordon. I know that you have a few seal photos too. I was very happy that I had my long lens with me and something to hide behind too. Glad you liked it.

Well normally I would not have had the lens too but being forewarned was everything.
