HWW ~ Fountains Mill

Abbey Mill built by the monks of Fountains Abbey , N Yorkshire restored by English Heritage and National Trust. The first mill was probable built in 1140 and became one of the largest corn mills in the country. By the 20th century a water turbine was added after gaining a new waterwheel in the 19th century for sawmill operations.

A very nicely composed shot Herb, with good leading lines. The mill looks to be in pretty good condition and you've captured it beautifully with a nice reflection. I especially like the look of the moss and lichen covered stone river bank!

thanks Keith. Yes the mill is now in pristine condition again and I am happy to say that the water wheel is still spinning. It did look as if it might turn some machinery of even a wheel but I could not tell. I think there are special tours and workshops here and so maybe then. Glad you liked the pictorial aspect too.
