Ha, ha, Peter, I had noticed the pointed fence but had not thought of it the way you see it. Well you know what they sat about the Irish..... I think yours is also the most plausible explanation re the person. I doubt that he was like me, to simply there to take a photo but we photographers can sometimes go a long way for a picture, as you now!

A very clear and well detailed landscape, and yes, I did look big size to find the person!
I can't explain the fences either, except that maybe the EU subsidies are paying farmers to leave the fields empty (or is that just France..?)
