Love locks in Germany...

Love locks in Germany...
...one bridge in Cologne has been decorated with a whopping 155,000 such locks, put there by newlyweds to bond their vows for each other. Now the city has to remove them to make it possible to paint the bridge with weather-proofing topcoat. These type of locks are hanging on hundreds of bridges all over cities in Germany... (This is my photo I took on one of our visits in my hometown in northern Germany.)

Kann ich mir denken. Wieso das ueberhaupt zur Sitte geworden ist, weiss eigentlich keiner. Ich finde es ist ein starker Kontrast zu der Ansicht, die Natur zu schuetzen um jeden Preis schuetzen zu muessen. Denn ich kann Hamburg erinnern, wie sauber die Stadt war, als ich sie 1967 verliess. Jetzt waechst ueberall hohes Unkraut, das alles festhaelt, was Menschen wegwerfen, oder einfach fallen lassen. Das ist eigentlich der Grund, warum ich dieses Foto hier zeige.
