Is this its color when the wings are open?
Not being a butterfly person (except for Monarchs!) I tend to call every white-ish butterfly "cabbage butterflies" - of which there are many - if that's what they are - in my cabbage-less garden.

Oh, my. I counted 37 species of sulfur butterflies in my field guide. The upper side of the wings tends to be a little brighter, but there is a lot of variation. The lower side is shown in this photo. By the way, I have seen exactly one (1) monarch this year.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen many monarchs this year, either - despite the strong and successful push for people to plant milkweed in their gardens.

I saw two more a week or so ago, but didn't have my camera. They have become quite rare.
