Former Marysville Cotton Mill, now NB provincial offices

Former Marysville Cotton Mill, now NB provincial offices
Industrialist Alexander “Boss” Gibson built this cotton mill between 1883 and 1885. Designed by the Boston firm of Lockwood, Greene and Co. to meet fire insurance standards, this four-storey building features brick pier construction, a central water tower and fire-retardant materials on the interior – standard features for a cotton mill in the late 19th century. By 1908 Marysville was among the largest mills in Canada. It continued textile manufacturing until 1975. Renovated by the provincial government, this mill complex is a well preserved example of a once common Canadian type.

I love these places, we have several here which have become museums and are so fascinating to visit. Your building here looks like it is built to last.

Thanks, Maurice. We didn't tour the building, only the rest rooms. I certainly seems to be sturdy. I will post more photos of the town soon.
