Never heard of these before, looks like it could disguise itself as a waterlily leaf if it wanted to. That's what I thought it was in the thumbnail.

I just read the Wikipedia article about them and added a link to this photo. Their range is from Ontario & Quebec all the way to northern México. So, probably they are somewhere in Michigan, too.
