Thank you very much, micritter. He is also very patient. He stayed right here while I ran to the house to get my camera.

Peggy C taught me (among many other things) to always have my camera with me. I try to follow her advice as much as possible :)

Peggy's advice is good. I try to keep my camera with whenever possible. In this case, I was working in the wet grass and didn't want to bash my camera or get it wet. I got a few photos with my phone just in case - haven't looked at them yet.

I'm amazed and (always) impressed. Pam, you can tell a male from a female even among snakes???

A failure of the English language - no indefinite gender pronouns. Ich auch. Keine Ahnung.

Thank you very much, Marie-claire. I did run away - to get my camera. The snake stayed in this pose until I returned.

J'aurais bien du souci s'il se trouvait dans mon jardin, je les crains !!!

Probably it would be a good addition to your garden to catch insects and spiders.

What a wonderful shot of this snake that doesn't look 'rough' to me.

I almost called it a smooth green snake, but then discovered that only the rough green snake is found this far south. Maybe you have the smooth ones there.
