Black vulture

Black vulture
I think it is probably rare to see this species at the edge of the water. Many mornings, I see them on the electric poles near my house.

Gisela Plewe, tatranka7, Annemarie, Ernst Doro and 3 other people have particularly liked this photo

Very nicely captured, I don't think I have ever seen a picture of a vulture in the water before.

Thank you, Doug. I don't think I have ever seen a vulture in the water before. This one was poking at something, maybe a dead fish, at the edge of the river.

Very nice image. The head-neck feathers (if that is what they are) look interesting.

Thank you, micritter. It has no feathers on its head and neck, just skin.

What an impressive photograph !
I never would have believed that a vulture could bath ! (:o)).
Do you think that he was looking for some food in the water ?

Thank you very much, Christiane. I don't think it was taking a bath, although that wouldn't seem strange to me. It was poking at something just under the surface of the water, maybe a dead fish. This was a strange sight to me, too. This species is very common here.
