2017: Still some ice on the canal despite a huge upward change in temperature this week. Christmas Day is forecast to be wet and windy.
This year, 2020, it is much milder, and at least the sun is shining, so it's time to go for a walk. We did the same walk today.
The PiP was taken when I was about 5 1/2 years old in 1947.

Shropshire Union Canal, Llangollen branch.
The aqueduct was designed by civil engineer Thomas Telford. It is a 70-foot (21 m) high and 710-foot (220 m) long navigable aqueduct that carries what is now the Llangollen Canal across the Ceiriog Valley near Chirk, on the England-Wales border, spanning the two countries, and it was briefly the tallest navigable one ever built, and it now is Grade II* listed in both England and Wales. It forms part of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct World Heritage Site.

To the right of the aqueduct can be seen the railway viaduct which was built later alongside the aqueduct. It is slightly higher than the aqueduct.

The Morton Farm Lift Bridge. (No 82a), constructed to enable the passage of farm animals and equipment across the canal. We have walked this stretch of canal numerous times and have never seen the lift bridge down until now.

I've just been watching a programme on TV where Gareth Edwards, the rugby player, and his wife are relaxing on the canals on the Welsh English border. They were on this boat being towed by a horse. We were walking this canal 3 days ago. As you can see there is the possibility of self isolating in an area like this.
Winding Hole on the Montgomery Canal

A winding hole allows canal barges to turn round, using nothing but the force of the wind, hence the name.

Today's challenge is: Implied triangular composition.
No problems with social distancing this morning. We only met 2 dog walkers, and there was plenty of warning and space to move over. This part of the Montgomery Canal is very straight.
