After a lovely afternooon yesterday turned nasty
I went out late afternoon to soak up some more rays,as I sat with my crossword book a flyin ant landed on the page.
I have lived here too many years not to know it would not been alone. I looked around and the sky was full of the little buggers. They were pouring out of a nest in the garden wall and some were coming over on the breeze from next door
I sprang up and noticed another nest emptying on the path and one on the wall of the house. I came in to close the window to keep them out but was too late. The inside of the window and the sill were covered in them, well over 100. I don't use chemicals so I collected my Dyson wand vacuum, attatched a small head onto it and begain clearing the top of the windows ,then I took the wand off clicked the attatchment onto the body and started on the rest. It was 5:45 when I noticed the first ant and 6:10 by the time I had scooped them all up and drowned them in my water bin.
I check the upstairs window, luckily the ants hadn't reached that high but I closed the windows to be safe. Feeling itchy all over I had a quick shower and relaxed at last.
We have massive ant colonies on the island and every year on a warm humid afternoon around this time if the year they emerge and cause havoc.
That excitement over I relaxed and thought of my trip to see mother today, alas that trip was postponed becuae of rain, maybe the ants knew soething I didn't.

We had thedoubtful pleasure of their yearly time to annoy humans about a month ago.
Have a ice evening.
But a couple of years ago we had swarms of the flying blighters ... however, the swallows and other birds made short work of them, leaving the bats more moths etc during the evening twilight.

We've got flying ant day here today.
I was sat outside just now and got bombarded with the remains of the early flight ! Garden table has lots of the dead ones ...
