If you read my earlier blog you will know my day didn't start on a good note. Since then things have changed. The good news is the last of my medical checks were good and the Doc is pleased although he still wants me to lose 10lb to keep my BMI spot on. Normally this would be no problem but this year my long hikes have been badly curtailed by the weather. With this in mind and the morning being dry I decided on a walk through the little wild area,down to the channel and along the channel shore line as the tide was out. I have posted an album of the stroll if you are interested.
Back home I rang Dot and cancelled my visit, grabbed a coffee and started taking the dodgy hob apart.
After examining it in detail I discovered the element on one plate is burned out as is the reo-stat switch that governs it,well I am guessing it is a form of reo-stat anyway. The outcome is I could search for new parts or buy the 4 ring unit I should have done last year. The reason I didn't was financial, the cost of the kitchen refurb left my potless. I bought the little two ringer as a stop gap and it has managed to do that.I searched around for a suitable 4 ring top and found one on the internet in my price range and a reasonable make. I will get that later in the week so it will be inventive use of my one remaining hotplate coupled with my other cooking devices until then. Judging by the size of the new unit I will need to do some modifications to the kitchen work top I think. It will need extending or a free standing unit built alongside it. I will decide on this when I see the new unit.
