Here I am on the morning of the last full day here. Tomorrow I am off back up north on the 10:30 train to Birmingham the first of my leg of my journey.
So how did I enjoy the break?,it was brilliant Spending time with my best friend is always a pleasure and always good fun. I was able to help her with a few jobs around the garden and the house and a few trips out were entertaining as always So what did I accomplish?
In the garden I sought out and vanquished a few Sycamores, hacked back some Buddleia and brambles widening a few spots on the driveway. Moving closer to the house I hacked back a tree that was threatening to eat the shed, cut the grass and had a general tidy round.
Then on to the potting. I cleared 4 large pots of weeds leaving behind some bulbs which I replanted in the little corner space I cleared. There was the saga of the Yucca of course and another 5 houseplants to re-pot. There were 4 large pots on the edge of the lawn full of weeds and nasties,I cleared them out and once again there were plenty of bulbs to re-pot which I did in the same containers. I think that was all outside where I had a lot of help from Boo who decided she would be my friend and helper,Pippin was also my pal but was more intent of going off on adventures then helping me.
Indoors there wasn't a lot to do apart from the re-potting. I Fixed a shelf in the sit upon, made a tickling stick extension so now Jenny can reach the awkward corners to clear old webs. I also re-attached a table leg and installed a DVD recorder. Other than fitting a couple of wipers on the car I think that was it.
It may seem like a fair amount of work but spread over the 10 days I worked in was easy for me and it helped my friend. I enjoyed the work in the garden best even if it did give me some back pain on occasion. So what has become an annual visit is nearly over, today is a rest day because tomorrows 3 train trip is tiring and does tax my back. This evening I will pack so tomorrow it is just a matter of saying goodbye to the cats who have welcomed me into their home then off to the station and a sad farewell to Jenny. Thanks for a wonderful time my old friend,I hope to be back next year.
