This is Winfield Scott with his version of "Tweedle Dee" from the album "Hey I Wrote That ", Winfield authored "Return To Sender" and "One Broken Heart For Sale" for Elvis Presley.
Atlantic Records' LaVern Baker had her first hit when she reached number four on Billboard's R&B chart and number fourteen pop with the original recording of "Tweedle Dee" in 1955. LaVerne was married to comedian Slappy White for almost a decade.
That same year Mercury Records duplicated the Lavern Baker tune using the same musicians for the Georgia Gibbs (Frieda Lipschitz) cover hit that peaked at number two. Georgia was also a big band singer for Tommy Dorsey and Artie Shaw among others of the era.
