Producer/composer and author Lionel Stitcher aka Mitch Murray had his first hit with this song. The Beatles were first to record "How Do You Do It" (Mitch Murray) in 1962 after both Brian Poole and Adam Faith turned it down. Then The Beatles released "Please, Please Me" instead. Mitch Murray went on to write Freddie and the Dreamers hit "I'm Telling You Now", "Hitchin' a Ride" for Vanity Fare, ""Goodbye Sam, Hello Samantha" for Cliff Richard along with a ton of other hits like "Billy, Don't Be a Hero" and "The Night Chicago Died".
Brian Epstein also managed Gerry and the Pacemakers who were often produced by George Martin as was the case with the single of "How Do You Do It". The song topped the U.K. charts in 1963, one year later it hit the American top ten from the album "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying".
