This is Barry Mann's demo of "Kicks" (Mann - Weil) composed specifically for The Animals but Eric Burdon turned it down.

Doris Day's son and one of those responsible for "The California Sound", Terry Melcher (Jorden) produced Paul Revere and the Raiders (Mark, Lindsay, Paul Revere, Phil Volk and Drake Levin) and this version of "Kicks" in 1966. It peaked at number four. That's Wrecking Crew member Hal Blaine on drums. This was a single later found on the album "Midnight Ride:". The single was the first Canadian chart topper for the group.
