Brief summary of my experience with Ipernity (can get dated):
Pros:
I like the customization flexibility one has over their home page. One can change background colors, font styles and colors, etc. That's very nice! It's fun to be able to tell when your contacts are online and chat with them. The upload design is diverse, has smooth functionality and you can upload quite a few photos at once. Speaking of uploads, ipernity provides a very nice amount of free space to upload photos with their basic registration. You get more if you pay to upgrade.
Cons:
So far Ipernity seems to have very small groups and not much activity in the ones I joined. The discussion forums were not very up to date and I haven't received much constructive criticism or comments on my photos. In the groups I did join, my photos remained on the front page of the pool which also indicated little activity. The slideshow format still has room for improvement. It's changed a handful of times so they are at least moving in the right direction. Keep in mind this has been browser dependent as well.
