About Old man, big kid

From: York

Now retired, (and having only just turned 58 when I did, I consider myself fortunate) I have been involved in local authority graphic design for over 25 years, Before that I was a Town Planner, giving me over 40 years local government service.

As a graphic designer, my aim was to create visual media that engaged the audience and imparted a message. This is closely allied to photographic composition. I'm a great believer in the phrase "if it looks right, it is right" (although I don't know who said it!)

I bought my Nikon D3100 DSLR in May 2012, thinking I would have so much time on my hands and I could re-visit the hobby I had thirty years ago. Now I don't know how I found time to work!

I am keenly interested in landscape photography, mainly black and white.

I shoot in RAW format. Then post process in Adobe Photoshop, using Silver Efex Pro and/or HDR Efex Pro.

Have now migrated my photostream from Flickr, and whilst I have lost many good contacts (and comments!) I, like many I suspect, could no longer stay with a company the displays such arrogance and disrespect.
