I'm a politically progressive liberal from Washington State, USA. Being from the Pacific Northwest I love nature and the great outdoors. Having grown up in the sixties and seventies I'm a hippie at heart; intolerant of intolerance and in support civil rights for all people. Washington DC “get your laws off our freedom!” Give all your citizens equal rights and opportunities. Give all your children a top quality education. Give women equal rights, including equal topfree rights (see www.tera.ca). Give gay people the right to marry their partners. I'm against Reagan-omics (trickle-down economics.) I'm against the neocon ideals of might makes right, and privatization is the answer to everything. I'm for single-payer universal healthcare. I'm for raising the cap on the social security tax, so that the mega-wealthy will chip in the same percentage of their income as you and I, allowing all of us to retire with some level of security and dignity. I donated to, and campaigned for Barack Obama because I believe it's time to shift the balance of power away from the fringes of fascism and back to the common citizen, or as John Adams (our first conservative president) called them “the multitude, the vulgar, the herd, the rabble, the mob.” Sorry Adams, but Jefferson was the better man, and I hope some day his vision will be achieved.
PS. I’m not a nut (well maybe I am, but I digress…). I just want to see the reemergence strong news media with the independence and balls to hold our politicians to account once again. Edward R Murrow where are you?
