Ball switch

Ball switch
No wonder this thing is almost impossible to turn on. Probably oxidized.

Akafugu LED candle
Very easy to build. The micro comes pre-programmed.

Orientation switch

Orientation switch
The ball is quite dirty / oxidized. I'd like to see the debouncing code to make this one work properly ;-)

Crappy switch

Crappy switch
This switch is part of cheap light fixtures under my kitchen cupboards. I got them several years ago. One switch has gone bad and I've been trying to get it replaced for months, if not years. Suffice to say I just couldn't find any replacement that would…

Quality switches just don't come in this small size. No replacement can be found for this one. The main issue is the depth of it.

Bread cutter - Safety switch

Bread cutter - Safety switch
Supposed to prevent accidental activation, as it requires to press two non-adjacent buttons in the right sequence.

Those 0603 resistors are tiny. I'm lucky I found a better pair of tweezers. And I will need glasses in a few years.

Lousy 'constant' current source

Lousy 'constant' current source
Not really a constant current source. At least not really independent of supply voltage. With the addition of a Zener diode it could be improved a bit. A 2 transistor variant would be better. Or just buy an LM317 straight away.

Waiting for electrons

Waiting for electrons
Forgot to get the quartz, diode footprint doesn't quite match, still missing the programming adapter board... the usual stuff.

The thing is real. I just removed the headers by overlaying rendered gerber files.

It' alive

It' alive
Completed the first board of the 2nd revision. The 3rd revision has some minor changes, more suitable footprints and better locations for parts. This one works nicely too.

Total power consumption is about 6mA - with the LED on (powered by the pull-up). S…

Fixed fooprint + LED + shrunk

Fixed fooprint + LED + shrunk
The MCP1804 is quite a good regulator, very low standby consumption, smaller footprint too. So I switched to that and shrunk the board by 2mm. Can't make it much smaller without moving to insanely small parts.

Code and design files.

Let's see how long I…

ATtiny85 based IR switch

ATtiny85 based IR switch
The ATtiny85 had to be forced to fit onto a standard (150mil wide) SO8 footprint. I don't feel like rerouting the board, so I choose to use 'the force'.

You can take a look at an animated version on my blog. It's quite annoying ;-)

It can adapted to wor…
