superb to find you here .... cant wait but always enjoy the wait also...for your wonderful drops of moonbeam silver with freckles of gold .......spells....
And you are a true traditionalist good on you....sadly for the film user I'm on the 'dark side' (digital), but it's the eye & the perception of the photographer that takes the photo not the equipment.
I have never been part of the film vs. digital contingent. I use what works for me. But I have never begrudged anyone the use of digital.
Any time someone spends time looking, seeing, making pictures, making anything should be celebrated-regardless of the method.
The only reason I specify that I am strictly film & darkroom is because there is a whole generation of people who have no idea what is possible with darkroom chemistry and film. They do not know what it offers and I want them to understand that the possibilities are virtually endless.
But I agree with you completely the eye that makes the image.
Although I must admit to some concerns about the practicalities of digital longevity and storage.
(But that's another debate entirely.)
thank you.
:)
I discovered this quote after I made my house, but it described it perfectly and much that followed and still follows. It continues to explain things to me:
"The idea of a house built so that people could become lost in it is perhaps more unusual than that of a man with a bull's head, but both ideas go well together and the image of the labyrinth fits with the image of the Minotaur. It is equally fitting that in the center of a monstrous house there be a monstrous inhabitant." (Borges)
Yes, certainly. 'House of Leaves' here. A quite unusual book- again reference to the labyrinth and the minotaur not to mention some really interesting typography. Plus a house that just doesn't add up.
your work is amazing. i wish i could spend time with you in the darkroom to learn, because what you do with film/photography is truly incredible and inspiring :-)
Lauren it's good to have found your work again after I left the other place. Your art is still as amazing as ever and wonderful to see you still publishing !!
lauren, i love your pictures to bits, every single one. you create a very special world and i'm happy it exists, even happier i found it, and the most happy guy to see it growing and becoming more and more beautiful.
