There's an amazing arts event goping on in Venice - the Biennale 09. This is a huge arts exhibition which is being shown in a number of national pavillions in the Biennale Park and in the vast halls of the Arsenale (which otherwise isn't open to the public). Apart from that, there are a large number of individual artists' exhibitions throughout the city which are also very much worth a visit.
