Hi,

Just in case you did not notice, we launched a small enhancement in the network pages : the birthdays calendar.

There is still a question under discussion in the iperHQ : should we change the privacy setting for the whole birth date and limit this setting to hide/show the year only ?

Right now you can show or hide your age, but what if you want to show your birthday but not your age?

The best would be to have 2 privacy setting :
- one for the birth day (eg 28 November)
- one the the year (eg 1971 = age 37)

But we can only afford to keep one setting. What would be for you the best setting option for birthdates? ...

Suggestions are welcome.

In germany it is possible to get an e-bay account for anyones name whose birthdate you know. For that reason I won´t show my birthday to everyone.

I'm already showing both: no problem! If you have a lot of Internet activity your birthday is what in Italy we call a Pulcinella's secret (Pulcinella is a comedy character unable to keep secrets...).

That might help me check contacts birthday clearly. I forget about what I read with reminder mails often...

It's a great feature and I think it should stay that way as it is. Cause I can choose to display my birthday only to friends & family, which is enough for the calendar. So I don't have to show the date everyone.

What confuses me is, that I don't see birthdays of some friends on the calendar but on their profile page.

It's a very hard decision.
* From a privacy point of view, I've to say: age (year) only.
* My personal point of view agrees with Marcel: keep it the way it right now. (although I'm not sure how it is right, now, but I guess it is: date visible for friends & family, year can be set by privacy settings.)
