How about 'Ipernity only'?

The present 'public' setting for any doc (photo etc.) on Ipernity means the document is completely public for the whole internet, including all search engines.

It might be a good idea to have something 'in between' this setting and the private/family&friends corner. Something like 'Ipernity only', perhaps?

It would be a setting you could choose...

if you don't want your stuff to be found and stored 'out there' in a completely uncontrollable way, or

if you want to make photos (a.o.) exclusively available here.

it's similar, but not really the same, is it?

I think so: If you can create a album, not visible for public, contents non-public and you can invite by pass whomever, the docs are not visible for google&co, but accessible for those you want allow access to...

no. It's not what I meant.

What I meant was: on _any single photo uploaded_, to have the option of making it visible to the Ipernity community only, thereby excluding the larger world and public search engines.
This would not be limited to an album, and it would not mean having to specifically 'invite' anyone in.

Please don't get me wrong. I think yours is a good idea. But it's different and it deserves its own attention.

Good idea. By the way, this morning I discussed with my wife, that we might need another option still: everybody except my family !laught

I completely agree. As a work around I created a group for such documents but it might be annoying for others to join another group only because of this...
Everyone except family is an interesting idea too ;-)

[en] I think is different from "guest pass". Effectivly you say "This photo is public, but I want to see, who looked at it."
I'd like to see the following privileges:
* Public -> the whole Internet
* Ipernity -> only logged in users
* Network -> only Ipernity members I added to my network
* Friends -> members of my networkl marked as friends
* Family -> only members of my network I marked as family
* Guest -> Users with a (revokeable) password
* Private -> only me (or readers of the group/article I linked the image to)
You can combine Family/Friends as usual and Guest with any of the other rights (except Public)

I have to ask "Why?" more features will just make the whole thing more slow and sluggish. Thats why they have Friends and Family.

I don't see, why it should slow down the system. The permissions for any document are already checked, so if there are several options more, it won't make a difference. At least if there arn't a hundred of them.
The same is true for the mentioned "guest pass".
